Park was the New Zealander in command of No. 11 Group RAF and was responsible for the air defence of London and southeast England during the Battle of Britain. "If any one man won the Battle of Britain, he did." Lord Tedder GCB, Marshal of the Royal Air Force, 1947.

Discovery Room, Auckland Museum

Took the kids to the Museum today. Amongst the scary animals in the discovery room, including dinosaur and Moa skeletons, stuffed bears, leopards and eels, are perhaps the scaryest of all — hoards of screaming children!

Pah Homestead, Hillsborough, Auckland

The new home for the Wallace art collection our most prestigious art award, opened today.

We visited the building around a year ago and it was basically derelict, but what a transformation. Built in 1877, originally one of Aucklands grandest homes, now housing the art collection which includes works by artists as diverse as McCahon and Hotere through to Pule and Weallans.
