This is probably my favourite sketch from this years Brit & Euro Car Show at Lloyd Elsmore Park. Something like 3000 classics were on show (including our MG). To be honest it's a stressful day where I draw as fast as I can in a bid to draw as many cars as possible! This year I got to sketch a gorgeous yellow AC ACECA – so good to see one in the flesh for the first time – a historic Citroen delivery van working as a coffee cart and this scene above – the Alvis club display captured fast and loose in gouache.
It might be too cold to sketch outside without frozen digits, but some of these clear evenings are too beautiful to miss. I decided to try to catch some of them by prepainting the sunset colours at home in front of the fire - they would never dry if drawn on site. This is Victoria Park looking north west over the motorway viaduct. More to follow!
