The Big Draw

Yesterdays first ever Auckland Anniversary Day Big Draw, saw about 25 or so sketchers happily drawing away at the Wynyard Quarter accompanied by an excellent soundtrack courtesy of the Laneway Festival. Very pleased with the numbers first time out and judging by the comments from happy participants and interested public we can look forward to many more and larger sketchcrawls.

The waterfront was packed with the various festival goers - Laneway Festival, Seafood Festival and Buskers Festival and Anniversary Day Regatta spectators which made it difficult at times to keep track of the group, but provided heaps of subject matter for our sketchbooks!

A big thank you to Eric Ngan from Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development for instigating me to get busy and organise the event. Here are some of Eric's sketches...

The excellent view from Eric's office...

A couple of my sketches, with the Kestrel and Harbour bridge in the background...

The old buoys in the park make an excellent place to sketch...

Thank you to everyone who turned up, I look forward to sketching with you again!

25 people! Well done mate. I had feared it would just be you and your ballpoint taking on the throngs.

I was a bit the same actually, but it wasn't a bad turn out. You'll have to come along next time Antoine?
